Kuwait Olympic Committee President Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah emphasized on Saturday the importance of enhancing cooperation with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to advance Kuwait's Olympic movement and support Kuwaiti youth across both summer and winter sports.
The remarks came in an official statement marking Sheikh Fahad's visit to newly elected IOC President Kirsty Coventry at her residence in Kuwait, where she is attending the 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). The two-day event begins Sunday.
Sheikh Fahad highlighted Kuwait's pivotal role in the Olympic movement, noting that the country has hosted the OCA headquarters since its establishment in 1982. He expressed confidence in Coventry's leadership as she prepares to assume the IOC presidency this June.
The meeting was attended by OCA Director General Hussain Al-Musallam and several IOC officials, during which commemorative plaques were exchanged between the two sides.
