Iran calls on the United Nations to take immediate action to confront the aggression of the Israeli occupation..

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called on the United Nations to take immediate action to confront the aggression of the Israeli occupation and its incitement of wars.

The official Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported that Amir-Abdollahian, in a phone call Friday evening with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, urged the international organization to take "urgent measures to fulfill its duties in maintaining international peace and security."

During the call, Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the dimensions of the Israeli occupation’s military aggression against several locations in Iran, including military headquarters, nuclear facilities, and residential buildings. The attacks resulted in the deaths and injuries of several high-ranking military commanders, elite scientists, and innocent women and children.

The Iranian Foreign Minister described the occupation’s attacks as a "blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a clear act of aggression," stressing Iran’s determination to defend itself under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

He stated that "the UN Security Council and the Secretary-General must fulfill their responsibilities under the Charter, strongly condemn this aggression, and take immediate and concrete measures" to hold the Israeli occupation accountable.

For his part, Guterres expressed regret and condemnation for the attacks on Iran, particularly the targeting of nuclear facilities amid ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States. He affirmed that he would work to utilize the UN’s capabilities to prevent further escalation and restore security and stability to the region.

Since early Friday morning, the capital Tehran and other Iranian cities have been subjected to a large-scale attack launched by Israeli occupation forces.

Iran announced the deaths of Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces; IRGC Commander Hossein Salami; and a number of IRGC leaders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Vital nuclear facilities and residential areas across the country were also targeted.

Among those killed in the attacks were former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Fereydoon Abbasi; nuclear scientist and president of Azad Islamic University, Mohammad Mehdi Tehrani; IRGC Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters commander Gholamreza Rashid; and IRGC Aerospace Force commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh.

The Iranian news agency FARS reported an unofficial death toll of 78, with 329 others wounded, as a result of the Israeli occupation’s attack on targets in Tehran province.
