The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates warned on Wednesday against transferring administrative and supervisory authority over the Ibrahimi Mosque from Hebron Municipality to a settlement council, as reported by Israeli occupation-affiliated media outlets.
In an official statement, the Ministry described this as "an unprecedented step" in the occupation's measures to impose sovereignty over the holy site, Judaize it, and completely alter its identity and features - in flagrant violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions.
The Ministry urgently called on UNESCO and the international community to immediately intervene to halt the implementation of this decision, warning of its repercussions for all holy sites and the conflict arena.
The Hebrew newspaper Yisrael Hayom revealed that the occupation authorities had taken an unprecedented step aimed at modifying the status quo at the Ibrahimi Mosque by withdrawing authorities from Hebron Municipality and transferring them to the religious council of Kiryat Arba settlement, built on the city's lands.
