Jeddah, [Date] – The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Hissein Brahim Taha, expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to Iraq, its leadership, and its people, following the tragic fire that broke out in a commercial center in Al-Kut city, Wasit Governorate.

In a statement, the Secretary-General conveyed his solidarity with the families of the victims, praying to Almighty Allah to bestow His mercy upon the deceased, grant them a place in Paradise, and provide their loved ones with patience and solace. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.

Earlier today, the Iraqi Interior Ministry announced that the death toll from the fire, which erupted last night in a shopping center in Al-Kut, had risen to 61 fatalities.
