Egypt and Nigeria Stress Importance of Enhancing African Joint Action to Address Security Challenges..

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release today that this came during a meeting between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Monday evening.

The statement noted that the meeting, which included the delivery of a written message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to his Nigerian counterpart, discussed developments in the Sahel, West Africa, the Horn of Africa, Sudan and Libya.

Abdelatty expressed Egypt's readiness to share its expertise and provide all forms of support in counterterrorism, including training and field support, as well as combating extremist ideology through Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding.

Regarding bilateral relations, both sides affirmed the depth of their distinguished relations and looked forward to enhancing cooperation and coordination in various fields to support African security and stability.

The Egyptian minister stated that his visit to Nigeria follows up on the outcomes of the meeting between the Egyptian and Nigerian presidents in Brazil in November 2024 and the third round of political consultations at the foreign ministers level held in Cairo in January 2025, which resulted in an agreement to elevate relations to a comprehensive partnership.

Abdelatty emphasized the importance of utilizing both countries' capabilities and strengthening bilateral cooperation in priority sectors, particularly trade and investment. He noted he was accompanied by a high-level delegation of 30 Egyptian business leaders and company representatives from various sectors to enhance economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and explore new partnership opportunities in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, health, construction and industry.

He stressed this move reflects Egypt's commitment to supporting African economic integration and enhancing the private sector's role in advancing joint development.
