The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) unequivocally declared on Tuesday that "the illegal occupying authority holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds Ash-Sharif (Jerusalem), nor over any religious, historical, or national heritage sites in the State of Palestine."
The statement came in the final communiqué of an emergency meeting of the OIC's Open-Ended Executive Committee at the Permanent Representatives level, held earlier today at the OIC headquarters in Jeddah. The meeting addressed Israel's aggression against the Palestinian people and its targeting of holy sites in the occupied territories, particularly the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.
Affirmed Palestine's exclusive right to administer, maintain, and protect the Ibrahimi Mosque, ensuring freedom of access and worship while preserving its cultural, historical, and archaeological identity.
Condemned Israel’s illegal attempts to transfer control of the Ibrahimi Mosque from the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs to an illegal settler council (the so-called "Jewish Religious Council of Kiryat Arba").
Demanded a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, the return of displaced Palestinians, and Israel’s full withdrawal from Gaza.
Denounced Israel’s starvation policy, systematic destruction, and blockade, including illegal restrictions on aid distribution and obstruction of UN operations.
Rejected any plans to forcibly displace Palestinians from Gaza or alter the demographic composition of Palestinian territories.
Warned against Israel’s intensifying military aggression and crimes in the West Bank.
Condemned Israel’s illegal withholding of Palestinian tax revenues, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
Urged member states to increase financial, economic, and humanitarian support for Palestine and activate the Islamic Financial Safety Net.
Tasked the Islamic Group to pressure UNESCO and the World Heritage Committee to list Palestinian heritage sites and halt Israeli violations against religious and cultural landmarks.
The OIC convened amid unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, including genocide, forced starvation, and displacement, alongside escalating Israeli attacks on places of worship.
