Spotify announced its results for the second quarter of 2025, as it succeeded in adding a number of subscribers that exceeded expectations, but in return, it recorded lower revenue and operating profit than the announced directions.
After adding 5 million paid subscribers in the first quarter, the number increased during the second quarter by an additional 8 million, which is 3 million higher than expectations. Compared to the same period last year, the number of premium subscribers increased by 12%, while the number of ad-supported users decreased by 1%.
Overall, the number of monthly active users (MAU) reached 696 million in the second quarter, up 11% from a year ago. Among them, the number of premium subscribers reached 276 million, exceeding expectations of 689 million active users and 273 million premium subscribers.
