According to a new report published by the US agency Bloomberg, Apple lost a fourth expert in the field of artificial intelligence to Meta, in the latest series of transitions that threaten the stability of Apple's artificial intelligence model development team.
Engineer Bowen Zhang, a member of Apple's basic prototyping team, recently left to join Meta, after being preceded by a number of his colleagues, including team leader Romming Bang.
Meta seeks to enhance the Superintelligence Labs unit, which is developing models capable of performing tasks at a level equal to or superior to human intelligence.
According to the report, Meta lures AI engineers with huge financial offers that include high base salaries, signing bonuses and shares in the company, as Pang is said to have received an offer of more than $200 million, an amount that exceeds the salaries of most Apple employees except executives.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman previously confirmed that Meta had offered joining bonuses of up to $100 million alone to some engineers, and Meta attracted experts from Apple, OpenAI and Anthropics as part of a fierce expansion plan in the field of artificial intelligence.
