The Trump-Putin Summit on the War in Ukraine Begins..

U.S. President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin began discussions Friday evening in Alaska aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, which started in 2022.

American news network CNN reported that Trump and Putin are currently holding a high-stakes meeting in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon arriving at a U.S. military base, the two leaders participated in an official red-carpet reception before their talks on Ukraine.

Despite initially departing together in the American presidential limousine, plans for a private one-on-one meeting were altered to include advisors. According to the White House, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff will join Trump in the discussions.

Earlier in the day, Trump stated that his goal is to bring Putin back to the negotiating table—not to mediate an agreement on Ukraine’s behalf. He also refrained from offering Kyiv security guarantees as part of a potential deal to end the war.
