The International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) has announced its sponsorship of one thousand male and female Syrian refugee students at the Kuwait Charitable Schools in Lebanon, which are affiliated with the IICO, for the academic year 2024-2025.
This initiative is part of its strategy to provide quality educational and rehabilitation opportunities, carried out in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Excellence for Humanity Association and with an executive partnership with the Lebanese Association for Supporting Scientific Research.
Ibrahim Al-Bader, the Deputy Director-General for Corporate Communication at the IICO, told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Thursday that this project embodies Kuwait's humanitarian message and translates its ongoing role in caring for the afflicted and disaster-stricken. He indicated that Kuwait, with its leadership and people, is known as a "Hub for Humanitarian Work," noting that Kuwaitis are inherently generous and dedicated to supporting nations in their times of hardship.
Al-Bader explained that the educational sponsorship includes providing school books, uniforms, bags, stationery, and transportation. Additionally, it encompasses diverse educational, cultural, and recreational programs, special care for gifted and outstanding students, and annual recognition for those who have memorized the Holy Quran.
He added that the project "has also contributed to creating 45 job opportunities for experienced and competent teachers and administrators, serving the educational process in an integrated manner. Furthermore, it plays a role in reducing school dropout rates, eliminating the phenomenon of child begging, instilling educational and moral values, strengthening Islamic and Arab identity, and building a educated generation based on sound scientific and religious foundations."
He affirmed that the project also places special importance on the psychological aspect of the Syrian students who have suffered from the circumstances of war. It seeks to prepare them to adapt to their new environment and enable the distinguished among them to obtain their right to a good education, thereby cementing a spirit of responsibility, citizenship, and respect for the rights of others within them.
He stressed that the International Islamic Charitable Organization will continue to implement its qualitative initiatives that elevate the educational process for refugees and the affected, opening horizons for their future. This is in support of Kuwait's humanitarian journey and as an embodiment of the values of dedication and giving characteristic of the Kuwaiti people.
