Sony has launched the IER-EX15C wired USB-C headphones, with a sustainable battery-free design to help reduce environmental impact.

The move comes in response to the problem of lithium-ion batteries, which require environmentally destructive mining operations and consume large amounts of fresh water. The process of disposing of used batteries is also a major challenge due to poor recycling techniques, which leads to the leakage of harmful materials into landfills and additional damage to the environment.
