The current US President Donald Trump has stepped up his attacks on former government officials, this time calling on Microsoft to fire Lisa Monaco, the company's head of global affairs, as he considered her a threat to US national security, given the large contracts that bind Microsoft to the government.
Monaco took over at Microsoft in May after a high-profile government career during which she served as deputy U.S. attorney in the administration of former President Joe Biden.
Then-Attorney General Merrick Garland was overseeing the prosecution of Trump, making her political background the subject of direct criticism from the president.
Trump wrote on his platform Truth Social that Monaco is corrupt, dysfunctional and poses a serious threat to national security, adding that he had previously stripped it of its security clearances and denied it access to classified information last March, but believes that its new location within Microsoft gives it access to highly sensitive information.
Trump's comments came after Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo broke the news of Monaco's appointment to the company.
