Saudi Aramco announced a collaboration with Solutions to develop a new generation of high-performance supercomputer through a project valued at SAR 1.4 billion, according to a statement.
The new supercomputer will be the largest high-performance computing system in Aramco's history, supporting the digital transformation of its exploration operations.
The project involves the use of a specially designed supercomputer to support both seismic data interpretation and reservoir modeling.
By enhancing seismic imaging capabilities and reservoir simulation and modeling, the supercomputer aims to redefine the speed and accuracy of hydrocarbon discovery and extraction, contributing to increased extraction rates and extended lifespans of existing fields in Saudi Arabia.
Omar Al-Nuaimi, CEO of Solutions by stc, said, “This collaboration represents a strategic step towards empowering the energy sector by leveraging the latest high-performance computing capabilities, supporting faster seismic data processing and improved efficiency in exploration and production operations.”
