Google first revealed its plans for new Google Books devices in May, confirming they would run on a new Android-based operating system.

Earlier this month, the first glimpses of some of the devices from Google's early partners, such as Lenovo and Asus, surfaced. Now, the company has sent out official invitations to the media for a launch event in New York on September 15.

The event is expected to be significant, as it will not only unveil new devices but also Google's operating system, which leaks have dubbed Aluminum OS, although the company has yet to reveal its official name.

What we do know is that it will bring Google Books closer to Android, as it will be based on the system's core technologies.
