On Sunday, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the necessity of intensifying efforts to ensure the resumption of the ceasefire agreement and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip.
Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, stated that this came during a meeting between President El-Sisi and Hungarian National Assembly Speaker László Kövér, attended by Egyptian House of Representatives Speaker Dr. Hanafy El-Gebaly.
Egypt’s Efforts in Gaza
Al-Sisi reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to alleviate the catastrophic conditions faced by Palestinians in the Strip.
Strengthening Egyptian-Hungarian Strategic Partnership
The president praised the strategic partnership between Egypt and Hungary, rooted in strong historical ties between the two nations. He affirmed both countries’ commitment to further developing this partnership across various fields, including parliamentary cooperation, to serve their mutual interests.
El-Sisi also commended the growing momentum in parliamentary collaboration between the two countries, highlighting the importance of their legislative bodies in enhancing dialogue and coordination on issues of common concern. He emphasized their role in supporting joint efforts, particularly in advancing economic cooperation between Egypt and Hungary.
Additionally, the president lauded Hungary’s role in supporting Egypt within European Union institutions, praising the continuous understanding and coordination between the two nations’ leaderships, which is based on mutual respect and shared interests.
Hungary’s Appreciation for Egypt’s Regional Role
For his part, Hungarian National Assembly Speaker László Kövér expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s vital role in promoting regional security and stability. He reaffirmed Hungary’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt at all levels, considering it a key partner for both Hungary and the EU in the Middle East.
Kövér also praised Egypt’s pivotal role in addressing regional issues impacting European security, particularly in de-escalating tensions, preventing the expansion of regional conflict, and combating illegal migration and terrorism.
