Algeria Grants Licenses for Energy Exploration and Exploitation in Five Sites..

The Algerian Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) announced today the awarding of exploration and production licenses for five southern sites under the "Algeria Bid Round 2024" international tender. The announcement came during the bid opening and evaluation session held at the Ministry of Energy and Mines.

License Awards:

  1. Ahara Site (Illizi Province):

    • Consortium: Qatar Energy & TotalEnergies

  2. Reggane 2 Site (Adrar Province):

    • Consortium: ENI (Italy) & PTTEP (Thailand)

  3. Zarafa 2 Site (Adrar/Ain Salah):

    • Company: Sinopec (China)

  4. Toual 2 Site (Ouargla/Illizi):

    • Consortium: OMV (Austria) & Villada (Switzerland)

  5. Qarn Qsaa 2 Site (Bechar, Beni Abbes, El Baydh, Timimoun):

    • Company: Sinopec (China)

No bids were received for the "Grand Mazaid" area (Mya Basin).

Ministerial Statement:
Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab emphasized:

✓ "Awarded sites offer promising geological potential and developed infrastructure"
