The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) condemned on Tuesday "Russia's continued use of chemical weapons on the battlefield in Ukraine," announcing new sanctions against a Russian research institute and military officials linked to their production and deployment.

Statement by Europe Minister Stephen Doughty:
"These barbaric chemical weapons should be consigned to the dustbin of history. Yet Russia persists in using them on Ukrainian battlefields."

Doughty emphasized this "flagrant violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention," stating: "That's why we're sanctioning a Russian research institute and senior military officials at the heart of Russia's chemical weapons violations."
