Italy and Kuwait agree roadmap to deepen strategic partnership through 2030
إيطاليا والكويت تعتمدان خريطة طريق لتعزيز شراكتهما الاستراتيجية حتى 2030

Italy and Kuwait have adopted an action plan to strengthen their strategic partnership through 2030, spanning defense and security, trade and investment, digital technologies, energy, agriculture, healthcare, education and judicial cooperation, Italian Ambassador Lorenzo Morini said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a press briefing following Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's visit to Kuwait, Morini said the roadmap is designed to turn the leaders' commitments into practical cooperation over the next four years, with specific initiatives slated for implementation in the coming months.
On the economic front, the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) and Italy's Trade Agency signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at encouraging Italian firms to invest in Kuwait and Kuwaiti companies to expand in Italy, while providing a framework for joint promotional initiatives.
Italian defense and aerospace group Leonardo also signed a letter of intent with Kuwait's Ministry of Defense to explore expanded cooperation. The state-controlled company is already active in Kuwait through the Eurofighter program and the civil aviation radar system.
Morini said the Eurofighter program was continuing, with training underway and further deliveries expected soon. He noted that facilities used for the aircraft had been affected by the war and would need to be assessed by Kuwaiti authorities.
A memorandum between Italy's Carabinieri and Kuwait's National Guard has been finalized at the text level and is expected to be signed soon. Asked about Italy's military presence, Morini said there was no specific number or finalized program, but Italy could increase personnel if Kuwait requested it.
Recalling Italy's role in the coalition that helped liberate Kuwait in 1991, he said: "Your security is our security, your stability is our stability."
