Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad defeated rivals Al-Fayha 3-0 in Sunday's match, held as part of Matchweek 31 of the Saudi Roshn Professional Football League.
Al-Ittihad's goals at Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah came from their French star Karim Benzema in the 24th and 54th minutes. The third goal was an own goal by Al-Fayha's Mohammed Al-Baqawi, who accidentally deflected the ball into his own net in the 75th minute.
With this result, Al-Ittihad moves closer to sealing the league title, with only three rounds remaining. They now need either a win in their next match or a loss by their closest rival, Al-Hilal—who play their Matchweek 31 game against Al-Orobah on Monday—to be crowned champions.
Al-Ittihad leads the standings with 74 points, extending their advantage over second-placed Al-Hilal (who have a game in hand) to nine points.
