The largest reptiles have been spotted in Kuwait. The desert monitor lizard has appeared in Al-Mutlaa, Al-Salmi, and Kabd..

- Its bite can cause swelling and health complications. Environmental activist Dr. Abdullah Al-Zaidan has spotted the desert monitor lizard, the largest reptile in the country, noting that its presence has been documented in several desert areas, including the Al-Salmi area, the northern desert regions of the country, the Kabd Reserve, and the desert area near Al-Mutlaa.

Al-Zaidan explained to Al-Rai that "this lizard, which has begun to spread recently, is carnivorous and lives in arid regions stretching across North Africa, Central Asia, and the Middle East, including the Arabian Gulf countries." He pointed out that "it thrives in sandy deserts, rocky plains, and semi-arid regions, and often digs burrows to protect itself from the harsh desert heat. Its seasonal activity peaks during the day at the beginning of summer with the rise in temperatures."
